In this blog, we will share a few helpful beach photo shoot tips as well as share some of the stunning photos captured at this Treasure Island golden hour engagement shoot. Thank you to Hannah and Peter for having us document your engagement memories!
Beach Engagement Photo Shoot Tips:
1. Photo Shoot's Time of Day
When planning your engagement session, keep in mind the time of day and what season. This factor can all lead to different lighting and sometimes weather struggles. We recommend starting your beach photo shoot one to two hours before sunset to capture the beauty of golden hour at the beach.
2. Coordinate Outfits
For the best-looking photos, try to coordinate outfits with your partner. We advise that your outfits do not exactly match, but complement each other. In this engagement session, Hannah has a beautiful flowy dress with texture and color that fit the vibe and location perfectly.
3. Looking Your Best = Feeling Confident
To feel your best in front of the camera, maybe consider a makeup stylist or hair stylist. Knowing your hair and makeup look good you will also help make you feel confident. Another thing to keep in mind for feeling confident in front of the camera is wearing clothes that you feel good in.
4. Create a Mood Board/Lookbook
Finding inspiration pictures for a mood board or lookbook is a great way to help your photographer capture the images you envision. Knowing what poses and pictures you want on the spot might be stressful, but keeping this handy can be helpful for you and your photographer.
5. Other Necessities
Sometimes photo shoot days can get hectic and stressful and there are some things you may not even think of bringing. For the ladies, bring extra makeup touch-ups, blotting sheets, bobby pins, powder, lipgloss, Q-tips, hair spray, and a brush (especially knowing the beach wind). Since the beach can get sandy, pack an extra pair of shoes or flip-flops. After sunset, it can get chilly so bring a jacket or blanket for after. Lastly, you should any props or items that are meaningful to you both, some ideas are instruments or even your dog!
6. Make Memories & Have Fun!
We can all get caught up with wanting the perfect photos or the stress takes over but it's good to remember to relax and just have fun with your partner. The session is a good way to celebrate and make lifetime memories of your journey together as a couple. The most memorable and best pictures are the ones captured when you're having fun!
